The Inspector
Exact numbers for the selected point, the glyph's bounds, spacing, kerning, masters and layers.
Where
- Window › Inspector
The Inspector shows what's selected in the glyph editor and lets you type exact values:
- Point: position, and whether it's a Corner or Smooth point.
- Guide: add a guide, an angled guide, or one at a height.
- Bounds: the size and position of the selection, or the whole glyph.
- Spacing: advance width and side bearings (LSB/RSB). These also take links like
=n. - Kerning: the glyph's kerning groups, and exceptions for a single pair.
- Masters and Layers: duplicate or delete a master's version of the glyph, and pick a background glyph.
Every number field accepts arrow keys to step the value.
Related
- Side bearings and widthThe white space on each side of a letter, which sets how text looks.
- Linked side bearingsMake a side bearing follow another glyph's, so changing n respaces every letter that shares its stem.
- Kerning groupsLetters with the same side shape kern alike: kern O once, and C, G, Q follow.
- Background glyphDraw over another glyph shown faintly behind, such as r behind ř.
- GuidesHorizontal, vertical and angled guides to line things up.
