Linked side bearings
Make a side bearing follow another glyph's, so changing n respaces every letter that shares its stem.
Where
- Inspector › Spacing › LSB / RSB
Type a glyph into the LSB or RSB field. With an equals sign the side stays linked and follows the source whenever it changes. A linked side shows the link and its current value, e.g. =n (37).
| You type | What happens |
|---|---|
=n | Link: this side follows the same side of n. |
=|o | Link to the opposite side: on a glyph's right, follows o's left. |
=n+10 | Link with an offset: n's value plus 10. |
n | Copy once: take n's value now, without linking. |
42 | A number. On a linked side, it changes the glyph the chain starts from. |
| (empty) | Unlink: keep the current value. |
Link a family to one source (n's left side drives m, h, r, p) and respace them all by changing n.
