Features tell apps when to swap glyphs: liga turns f + i into a ligature, smcp uses small caps, ss01 switches on a stylistic set. ChewPack compiles the standard AFDKO feature language (.fea), the same one used by other font editors, and shows errors before you export.

Most fonts need little or no code: name your glyphs well and ChewPack writes the common features itself.
